John Warner is a freelance writer in the fields of HR, management, leadership, communications and learning strategies. John is based in the UK and writes regularly for the Economic and Social Research Council, Competency and Emotional Intelligence published by IRS and IDS HR Studies (e.g. succession planning and e-learning). Recently, he contributed to the CBI’s Working on the Three Rs (published August 2006 and featuring employers’ concerns about standards of literacy and numeracy). He is an associate adviser of The Work Foundation and contributed to many of the organisation’s Managing Best Practice series of publications. Several years ago, he completed a three-year e-learning project with the Department of Education at the University of the West of England that involved work throughout England. Professional bodies, companies and government departments often call upon him for his services. Originally a teacher, he later became a director of a London-based national organisation that sought a better understanding of business and was the managing director of a HR communications company in Leeds. John has been working independently for more than twelve years and is based in Worcestershire.
